The Trainwreck strain of cannabis originated in the Emerald Triangle region of Northern California in the 1980s. It is a cross between a Mexican landrace sativa, a Thai landrace sativa, and an Afghani landrace indica.
Origin story
The strain’s name may come from a train crash in the Humboldt region the same summer the original cut grew.
The strain may also be named for the mental invigoration it produces, which some say hits the mind like a runaway train.
Characteristics
Trainwreck has a lemon and pine aroma due to its high levels of terpinolene, myrcene, and limonene.
It has a moderate THC content of 14–18% and is said to have energy-inducing effects.
